Frequently Asked Questions

How does the First-Look Scoring System work?

Each script receives a First-Look Score & Report that reflects what truly matters: structure, originality, emotional impact, cinematic execution, and marketability. The analysis is built on patterns and standards drawn from thousands of professional coverage examples, ensuring consistent, structured feedback aligned with industry expectations. Writers use the notes to refine their work, and buyers instantly see how close a script is to being production ready. Scripts rated 8.0+ are considered ready for the room, while 9.0+ signals a rare, elevated piece of work.

Do credits expire?

No. Your credits never expire. Use them whenever you’re ready to upload and analyze scripts.

Script Security

Yes. Every script is securely stored in your private dashboard, and all files and reports are watermarked. You always maintain full ownership and control of your IP.

What’s included with my membership?

A one-time $29 fee gives you a First-Look Dashboard, 1000 credits, and your first coverage report free. You can add more credits anytime.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you’re not satisfied with your first coverage report, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on the report fees.

When will the Marketplace launch?

The Marketplace is coming in Q4. High-scoring scripts will be eligible for listing, where verified buyers can filter and discover projects based on their preferences.

What about agents and managers?

First-Look was created to work with the industry, not around it. Agents, managers, and lawyers remain essential to a writer’s career. The platform simply helps writers gain visibility earlier and makes it easier for reps to discover new talent.

Writers without representation can use First-Look solo to build momentum. Once they attract attention, they can invite reps to join their account and manage opportunities together. For represented writers, First-Look becomes a shared tool that streamlines discovery, feedback, and outreach across the entire team.

What about other genres?

First-Look is launching first in the horror space, but all genres are welcome. You can upload any screenplay to receive a First-Look Score & Report right now, even if it falls outside horror.

Writers in other genres can pre-load their scripts so they are ready when we open new categories. As the platform expands, your work will automatically appear in the appropriate marketplace section once that genre is activated.

Do I need an agent or manager to use First-Look?

No. Use First-Look solo to gain exposure, improve your score, and connect with buyers. You can invite reps later when the timing is right.

Can I invite my reps to collaborate?

Yes. Invite agents, managers, and lawyers to your account. Use First-Look as a shared workspace for discovery, feedback, and outreach.

Does First-Look replace representation?

No. First-Look works with the industry, not around it. Reps remain essential to a writer’s career.

How does First-Look help represented writers?

It centralizes visibility and signals interest earlier. Your team can review scores, shape strategy, and manage opportunities together.

How do reps and industry professionals use First-Look?

Scout writers sooner, track properties, and connect with buyers earlier. Similar to how Zillow empowered real estate agents, First-Look empowers creative representatives.

When should I invite reps to my account?

Anytime. Start solo to build momentum, then invite reps when you want help shaping your path and handling outreach.

What about agents and managers?

Agents, managers, and lawyers are partners in the process. First-Look helps unrepresented writers build traction and lets represented writers and their teams streamline discovery, feedback, and outreach.
